ELENA TIMPLALEXI
Theatrologist, director and playwright. She holds a PhD (2014) in Analog and Digital Role Playing Games from the Theatre Studies Department, University of Athens (awarded with a scholarship from State Scholarships Foundation – IKY). She obtained her BA (1998) and MPhil (2001) at the same department. Awarded with a scholarship for theatre practice by Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, she was in the UK for two years with Ridiculusmus. She attended several workshops and seminars with well known theatre practitioners, amongst which Theatre de Complicite, Lee Breuer and John Wright.
Awarded playwright, she won the first award in a competition for Young Playwrights for her play The Grey Coat (1999) and the third prize of the National Playwriting Competition organised by the Ministry of Culture for her play Hole on your jeans (2008). Founding member of Magenta artistic team (2011~) and SimulActor (2011~) and artistic director of UtopiArt (2002-2008).

Elena worked creatively for community projects in London (with John Wright) and in Athens (with the National School on Public Health on AIDS & mobility and with The Hellenic Ministry of Health on Health Promotion) as well as for audiovisual material promoting healthy eating habits amongst children. She has worked as a drama teacher and a learning support assistant for 6 years. She often coordinates educational actions based on Theatre games promoting the first contact of children with Science (astronomy, biology, chemistry) at the National Hellenic Research Foundation.
Elena writes for the stage and screen and is a dramaturge. Her works include Judgement Day Project, Seven Short Plays of Disaster, 20.000 Leagues above The Sea and several scripts, mainly for short films. In 1999 she won the first award in a competition for Young Playwrights for her play The Grey Coat and in 2008 the third prize of the National Playwriting Competition organised by the Ministry of Culture for her play Hole on your jeans. She co-wrote the full-length play One's for Nothing with Paul Gallagher (2008).
